Sea Moss, Iodine and Your Thyroid: The Straight Answer
Share
Hey.
You're dragging through the afternoon. You're cold when other people aren't. Your energy is uneven in a way you can't point at, and you've started wondering whether something is just running slow.
You've heard sea moss is good for you. What almost nobody explains is which part actually matters.
How sea moss helps
It's the iodine.
Your thyroid is a small gland in your neck that sets the pace for your whole body: energy, temperature, how fast you burn through things. To make the hormones that do that, it needs iodine as the actual raw material. Your body can't make iodine and can't substitute anything for it. You eat it or you don't have it.
Sea moss is one of the better natural sources there is. That's the real headline.
You'll also see it claimed that sea moss has "92 of the 102 minerals your body needs." There are only 118 known elements in the universe, so that number was never real. Here's what's actually in it, and we can name them: iodine, selenium, potassium, magnesium, calcium and fibre.
What customers tell us:
- Steadier energy through the afternoon. Not a lift, a level.
- It shows up in week two or three. This is food.
- You notice it most on the day you run out. That's their line, not ours, and it's more honest than anything we could write.
How much: one to two tablespoons a day. More is not better with iodine. Adults need about 150 micrograms daily and the recognised safe ceiling is around 1,100, and a normal serving sits comfortably in between.
Wildcrafted sea moss from St. Lucia, soaked in spring water, blended smooth. That's the whole recipe. Made fresh to order in Atlanta.
Reasons not to take it
- Any thyroid condition, or thyroid medication like levothyroxine. Iodine is the input to the exact system your medication manages, so talk to your doctor first. This is the important one.
- Hyperthyroidism, Graves' disease or thyroid nodules. Extra iodine can push things the wrong way.
- Hashimoto's. Ask your doctor before starting.
- If you also take our ashwagandha blend, mention both. Ashwagandha nudges thyroid hormones up too, so together they work on your thyroid from two directions.
- Pregnant or nursing. You need more iodine, not less, but get the amount from your doctor rather than from a jar.
Two things it won't do, so you're not disappointed: it won't fix an underactive thyroid, and it isn't a metabolism booster for fat loss. If your thyroid works normally, your body holds the pace steady.
