Turmeric and Black Pepper - The powerhouse combo

Turmeric, known as the golden spice, has been used for thousands of years in traditional Indian medicine. Studies support these perceived traditional health benefits, specifically when combined with black pepper.

Both turmeric and black pepper have key active ingredients that play a role in this powerful combinations health benefits

The key bio active compound in turmeric is curcumin, a polyphenol that is a strong antioxidant with anti-inflammatory capabilities. Curcumin on its own is not well absorbed by the body, however the key bio active compound in black pepper is Piperine. Known for increasing the absorption of certain compounds during the digestion process, such as curcumin.

A recent study shoes that pairing 20 milligrams of piperine (black pepper) with 2 grams of curcumin (turmeric), the amount of curcumin absorbed by the body increased by 2000%.

Fights inflammation and Reduces Pain

Due to the high levels of curcumin this combination has strong anti-inflammatory properties, some studies have shown it to be as or more effective than anti-inflammatory drugs on the market, without any of the negative side effects.
Curcumin is often praised for its ability to reduce pain and temporarily ease discomfort. Tumeric has also been used to ease the effects of osteoarthritis and rheumatism. Piperine has also been shown to have anti-arthritic and anti-inflammatory properties, therefore when combined with curcumin it becomes a highly effective medicinal support.
Scientists now agree, chronic inflammation can play a key role in some serious health concerns such as heart disease, cancer, alzhheimers and other degenerative disorders.

Aids Digestion

For thousands of years traditional Indian medicine has used turmeric to aid in digestion and recent studies support these traditional claims. The anti-inflammatory properties of this combination may aid in reducing gut inflammation, which assists in digestion.
Findings report Tumeric and Black Pepper can help with stomach spasms, increased gas and stomach discomfort.
Turmeric and black pepper have both been observed enhancing digestive enzymes within the gut, which in turn helps your body process food quickly and easily, improving digestion.

Boosts Brain Function

New and emerging science shows, despite previous thoughts, adult neurons are caple of forming new connections and in specific areas of the brain they can multiply as they had in early childhood.
BDNF, a brain-derived neurotrophic factor, is the gene involved in creating the protein responsible for promoting the life of neurons. BDNG proteins play a vital role in memory and learning.
Many neurodegenerative disorders have been linked to decreased BDNF protein. Animal studies have shown curcumin may increase levels of BDNF. Meaning it may be an effective treatment in delaying or reversing age-related decrease in brain function. While it may also improve memory and attention.
This combination is a potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant that may help boost brain function, reduce inflammation and aid in digestion. All of which are key factors in maintaining overall health and wellness.
